Why?

I understand the idea of overworked and underpaid.

I understand cranky.

I understand being bombarded with ceaseless questions.

I understand having questions and wishing someone would answer them.

I understand bad hair days.

I understand the desire to be outside playing in warm weather over being inside working.

I understand hoping someone will sit down and truly listen to my fears.

But what I will never, never, ever understand is a doctor yelling at my sweet 80-year-old mother who is sick with a bad chest cold and telling her that her time is up before abruptly walking out of the exam room.

Why does God create these people?

I hope this callous, indifferent doctor never has to experience the insulting shock of hearing, “I don’t care.”

I hope there's a special place in hell for doctors like this.

Aww, Lynne - I am so sorry that happened to her. :(

Bad doctor!! No matter what - shame on him. Maybe, something serious was going on with him that had nothing to do with your mom - but then he should promptly apologize.

You know - doctors see many, many patients and we as patients see just them. We trust them. We believe they have our best interest at heart. If there is any kind of on going relationship, the patient does get attached and gives them all their trust - especially older people.

My 83 year old mother thinks her doctor is God. If he did that to her she would be devastated!

I hope your mom will rally back from this.

I feel very sorry for you and your mother. Not a very caring evironement from that presentation. May be time to move to another practicioner.

I would also recommend a call to the office manager and sharing the event and concern with them. May have been a bad day at the office but it could also be time for corrective action and better approach to their patients.
